How To Use It

Start around Irvington, Tarrytown, and Sleepy Hollow for a compact lower-Hudson day, then continue north toward Garrison, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Germantown, Catskill, and Hudson. The category controls let you focus on river estates, presidential history, artists and writers, or gardens and views. Click any marker or route-list item for a short planning note.

The full set works best as a two- or three-day trip. If you only have one day, cluster stops by geography: Lower Hudson estates, Hyde Park presidential sites, or the Catskill/Hudson artist-home pair.

Top Stops

  • Lyndhurst Mansion and Washington Irving's Sunnyside make a strong lower-Hudson pairing near Tarrytown and Irvington.
  • Kykuit adds gardens, art, and sweeping views from Pocantico Hills.
  • Boscobel is a scenic midpoint with formal grounds and Hudson Highlands views.
  • Hyde Park anchors the presidential-history section with FDR's home, Val-Kill, and Vanderbilt Mansion.
  • Thomas Cole National Historic Site and Olana create a natural finale for Hudson River School art history.

Verify Before You Go

Tour schedules, timed-entry rules, seasonal hours, ticket requirements, and weather-related grounds access can change. Use the official venue pages before leaving, especially for house tours and sites with limited seasonal programming.
